Amed NE cornner of Bali & Central Paddy fields stop

I book a “shuttle Bus” – shared passenger van transport to Amed. Google sys 2.25 hours but I’ve found Google is very optimistic , like maybe if your traveling at 02:00 am no body elese on the very narrow twisty road yeah.. daytime reality, I hope for a more patient, don’t pass on every curve not currently filled with on coming traffic. But some guys do that. I try to sit in the back, more survivealble and I can’t see what to stress about. Any how it’s more like 4 hours to Amed

First shot is actuallly my goodbye shot at the Brata Inn (monkey mania) I try to get some staff and local shots of places I like for post on google and Agoda, Hotels.com. Booking. etc

Then some terraced paddys as we decend to the NE coast. Last the beach at Amed with the active volcano in the sunset background.

Not at all sure what this art piece is meant for. I don’t think it’s “traditional” Amed NE coast is about the beach and snorkeling, Not even many souvinere shops.

And as the snorkeling was on a par with Gili Air, OK but not at all exceptonal I decide to rent a motor scooter and explore the area. I try to hug the shoulder of my side of the road especially on blind curves. Knowing cars & trucks can fill all of the narrow road. I head up a valley, initially to check out a water fall, but the dry season water in it’s stream is nearly nil. There is a temple at the end of the road so I contiue on.

And ouch! I round a tight steep curve, a big hole, bit of a wash out really, on my shoulder, front wheel falls in, & I fall sideways. I was going slow but the little gully was steep with lots of sharp rocks. Lucky an Ausie stops to help me to keep the scooter from falling down into the gully. That would have made this a longer story. Handi wipe the grit out of the wounds and I have my little vial of goldenseal to sprinkle on and start drying up the bleeding. That was three days ago, & it’s getting dressings changed fresh golden seal, with neosporin smeared gauze covering. Much better today, which is good as I’m headed for one night in Kuta just next to the airport for my early flight the next morning to Manilla. If it looked infected at all I would head to a doctor in the big city there, & not continue directly to Puerto Galara

Right then, I’ll stop whinning about my leg. This last shot of terraces is right along side of my hotel. A farmer was weed whacking the tall grass on each downhill berm, but leaving the grass on the face of each berm. And behind him the water was filling the ready paddys. I didn’t see what they used for plowing, water buffalo or a rototiller. No way a tractor would fit in there.

I’ve not been able to explore my current location, Sidemen, a small rural town in the midst of rice terraces, with several reportedly very nice temples. But the view is nice from this hotel & the foods not bad.

So I’ll put this up. Next post from the Fillipines.

So this post has waited for some OK WiFi. Which is rare in the Fillipines. SoIl post this and start on my Puerto Galera convalescence. No infection on the leg but taking longer than I’d hoped to fully heal.
